What Are Dental Veneers
Dental veneers, sometimes called porcelain veneers or ceramic veneers are a thin covering of ceramic that can be used to change the color, size, alignment and shape of your teeth. The coverings are cemented on once fitted to create a long-lasting restoration that is minimally invasive. You can think of them as being similar to “tips” on your nails.
What is the Process to Get Dental Veneers ?
The process is similar to crowns, however a lot of planning will go into your cosmetic case before your teeth are ever touches. Records are taken and analyzed including photographs, x-rays and models. These records are skillfully used by both the doctor and the lab to design your case according to our goals. Once finalized, these records are used to make custom temporaries or temporary shells to be used on prep day. Typically, we will see you for a long appointment the morning of prep day. Our dentists in Matthews will get you comfortable and shape your teeth for the veneers. An impression is taken and the temporaries are custom made for you. Your final veneers will be hand fabricated over the next two to three weeks and we will see you when they are back to be bonded in place. Once finished we will see you for an adjustment appointment and final check to make sure that everything is perfect.
How Long do Dental Veneers Last?
There are lots of factors that come into play like your bite, your dental habits and your dental hygiene. When well maintained, generally veneers will last 10-15 years before they wear out.
